Two Varkala natives living in the UK passed away just days apart in the same week

LONDON Feb 19: Two Varkala natives those who have been residing in the UK passed away this week.

T Chandrakumar Nair (70), a resident of Edava in Varkala of Thiruvananthapuram district, succumbed to Covid at the Kettering General Hospital in Kettering, Northamptonshire on Tuesday 19th February 2021.

Kunjan Surandran (89) a native of SS Nivas Puthenchantha in Varkala of Thiruvananthapuram district residing in Croydon passed away on 19th February at his residence due to cardiac arrest.

Kunjan Surandran of Sutherland Road Croydon CR0 3QL and father of Late Saju Surandran (Sunny), passed away on 19th February at his residence due to cardiac arrest. Kunjan Surandran arrived in the UK in 1969 from Singapore and he is a native of SS Nivas Puthenchantha in Varkala of Thiruvananthapuram district.

He is survived by his wife Nanoo Sukaniya, son Kumar Surandran, daughter Sunitha Balakrishnan, daughter-in-law Kavitha Sreekumar, son-in-law Anil Balakrishnan and grandchildren Harsha Balakrishnan, Ayush Sreekumar, Varsha Balakrishnan and Anaswar Sreekumar.

In addition to wishing eternal peace to the departed soul, OICC UK and its various regions of Surrey, London, Elephant Castle, South East, Manchester, Luton, Bromley, Mitcham, Dorking, Watford, Sutton, Birmingham sent their condolences to the bereaving family. OICC UK Convener Thekkemuri Haridas and Joint Convener KK Mohandas offered condolences to the bereaving family.

Varkala Edava native who was on visit with son and family at Corby dies of Covid: Funeral on March 1

T Chandrakumar Nair (70), a resident of Edava in Varkala of Thiruvananthapuram district, succumbed to Covid at the Kettering General Hospital in Kettering, Northamptonshire on 16th February 2021.

T Chandrakumar Nair and his wife was in the UK for the past one year on visit to spend time with his children. T Chandrakumar Nair and wife was living with his son Sreejith who worked as nursing assistant in Corby. The couple were planning to return to Kerala but delayed their trip back due to the Covid lockdown and owing to the travel difficulties during the time of Covid.

But Chandrakumar Nair fell ill with Covid and his condition deteriorated and it resulted in him having to be admitted to the Kettering General Hospital in Northamptonshire. Towards the later few days he was kept on the ventilator. But as his condition didnt improve the doctors informed the family that the ventilators were becoming futile. He sadly passed away on 16th February 2021.

Chandrakumar leaves behind wife and his four sons, their spouses and children who all are residing in the UK.

The funeral will be held in the UK on March 1 by following Covid restrictions.
