By A Staff Reporter

LONDON June 13: The Manju Warrier-starrer Kayattam will be screened at the forthcoming London Indian Film Festival, which is scheduled to take place from 17 June to 2 July in London, Birmingham and Manchester in England.

Kayattam will be shown at BFI Southbank on June 24, 2021 6:00 pm

Kerala’s noted director Sanal Kumar Sasidharan returns to the festival with this new twisted Himalayan tale. Maya from Kerala connects with younger Akash on social media and they meet in person on a mountain trek.

Their chemistry is instant and romance blossoms, however this budding union attracts the unwanted attention of several older male fellow travellers and threatens to derail their relationship.

In Sanskrit, Maya means magic or illusion upon which the universe is woven. Protagonist, Maya in the film also refers to the wider mystery of the universe and its masterful manipulation with the human minds.

The mystic story unravels in a thrilling Himalayan climb by a group of strangers. The film has been selected as a competitor for the Kim Jiseok award in the Busan International Film Festival in October 2020.

There will be an online Q&A session with Sanal Kumar Sasidharan and Manju Warrier with BBC’s Ashanti Omkar.
