Lack of neutral umpires lead to violent end to cricket match with onfield fight between players, spectators (Video)

LONDON July 14: A cricket match between two cricket clubs ended in violent attacks between players leaving children screaming and families shocked.

The drama unfolded at the end of Saturday’s division six match between Hanford and Newcastle & Hartshill at the latter’s cricket club, Daily Mail reported. Hanford had just won the game by two wickets.

It is reported that an amateur cricketer was hit repeatedly with a metal bar.

Staffordshire Police has appealed for witnesses after being called to reports of fight at Hanford Cricket Club.

A young girl was seen running from the brawl as players shoved and held each other back amid the chaotic scenes.

Children were heard crying as shocked spectators likened the weapon used in the brawl as a “sword”.

According to posts on social media, the controversy started because there were no neutral umpires at the match

Police are appealing for witnesses, who should call 101 quoting incident number 649 of 9 July or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
