UK Awards £380m to Tata Group’s Agratas for Major Somerset EV Battery Factory

LONDON April 10: The UK government is giving about £380 million (around $510 million) to Agratas, which is part of the Tata Group, to help build a large electric car battery factory in Somerset.

This money is part of a bigger £470 million support package to boost electric vehicle (EV) production and reduce pollution from transport.

The new factory will:
Be one of the biggest EV battery plants in the UK
Produce batteries mainly for Jaguar Land Rover
Help create thousands of jobs
Strengthen the UK’s supply of EV batteries

The funding was first suggested by the Department for Business and Trade.

Overall, the goal is to support cleaner transport, grow the economy, and encourage more investment in the UK’s car industry.
