Keralite stabbed to death by another Malayalee in London: Murder investigation begins

LONDON June 16: A Keralite was stabbed to death by another Malayalee in the early hours of this morning around 1am in Peckham in London.

The deceased has been identified as Aravind Sasikumar (37) who is from Panampilly Nagar in Ernakulam.

Police officers were called at 1:31am on Friday, 16 June to Southampton Way, near to the junction of Coleman Way, in Peckham, Southwark, following reports that a man had been stabbed.

On arrival, officers located Aravind, suffering with stab injuries. Despite treatment from medical professionals, the man sadly died at the scene, a Met Police spokesperson said.

His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers. One man, a Malayalee, flat mate, who is aged in his 20s, was arrested nearby on suspicion of murder. He remains in custody where he will be questioned. Enquiries are ongoing.

A murder investigation has been launched by the Met Police after a man was stabbed to death in Peckham, South East London.

Local residents had reported hearing at least one helicopter in the early hours of the morning.

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.

It is believed that an argument arose within the home in Southampton Way in Peckham and this argument resulted in the stabbing which led to the other Keralite residents in the home left shocked.

Not knowing what was going on the two other residents in the house, after hearing the commotion ran out and sought safety from the attacked inside a shop nearby.

The victim has been in the UK for the last ten years and not married.

Two witnesses, both Malayalees, were taken away by the police for questioning. The two Malayalees are reported to be shell shocked and they were not able to speak to those friends who arrived to support them.

It is said that the victim has been supporting the perrson who stabbed him when he lost his job by helping with paying the rent et al.

All five residents of the house is said to be Malayalees.

The victim is said to be working in a shop and also played cricket within the Malayalee community.
