Kerala govt signs MOU with NHS partner: Healthcare employment fest for 3000 jobs to be held in Kochi

LONDON Oct 10: The Kerala government delegation, who are in the UK as part of their European tour focusing on garnering business investment for Kerala, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a NHS partner yesterday in London.

The MOU signed between government of Kerala and Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership’s partner Navigo, was to facilitate the migration of health workers from Kerala to the UK.

Talking on the sidelines of the event Harikrishnan Namboothiri CEO of Norka Roots told this website: “This is to facilitate movement of skilled health care support staff to UK. Kerala government’s tie up with Navigo Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership is in concurrence with the approval of the Ministry of External Affairs India government.

“The tie-up will faciltate quality migration on a longterm prospective with the first phase of its implementation happening in mid November 2022 where sixty placement oficers will be coming to Kochi and doing a UK job fest in Kochi for a week which will enable them to onboard close to 3,000 professional mainly doctors, nurses and support staff.

“This is the first of its kind of staff recruitment that is made on a fast track basis to ensure that we are ensuring the movement of skilled workers in a most trusted, ethical and reliable manner.

“With the new changes coming about with the NMC rule in UK, this is the first of its kind happening in Kerala in India in general. This will always give a boost to the export of healthcare talents from Kerala and to UK. We are are also exploring other possible opportunities to boost our overseas recruitment”

Once the process is ironed out there are plans to organize a week-long UK Employment Fest in Kochi November 2022.

The MOU was signed in the presence of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, NORKA Roots Resident Vice-Chairman P Ramakrishnan, NORKA Roots CEO Harikrishnan Namboothiri and the Navigo Integrated Care Partnership was represented by Michael Reeve, chief executive officer Navigo.

Also present were Dave Howarth, Deputy Head International Workforce at Department of Health and Social Care, Dr Joji Kuriakose, Dr Sivin Sam and NORKA General Manager Ajith Kolassery.

Humber and North Yorkshire Health and Care Partnership comprises of NHS organisations, local councils, health and care providers and voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations. The Partnership works across the cities of Hull and York and the large rural areas across East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.
