Sruthi Annual Day on April 18: Renowned poet and lyricist Ramesan Nair to be chief guest

LONDON Jan 22: Sruthi UK, an arts organisation based in the UK, will host this year’s annual day event on Saturday, April 18th at Infinity Theatre, Carleton Community High School, Pontefract. This year’s chief guest is Sri S Ramesan Nair- Renowned poet, lyricist, playwright and philosopher, best known to us through thousands of playback and devotional songs that he has penned.

“Sruthi would like to extend invitation for this year’s annual event to everyone”, a press note issued by Dr Sethu Warrier, president of the organisation and Dr Chovodath Unnikrishnan, secretary.

S. Ramesan Nair is an Indian poet and lyricist. He has written lyrics for more than 450 songs for the Malayalam film industry, from 1985 onwards. He is a recipient of the Sahitya Akademi Award.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1966 and later completed his post graduation in Malayalam Literature in 1972. He started working with All India Radio as an editor in 1975 and later resigned from there.
He achieved wide appreciations as a poet through works like Sooryahridayam, before starting his accomplished career as film lyricist in 1985 by penning songs for the movie Pathamudayam.
He was awarded the Vennikkulam Smaraka Award instituted by the Thadiyoor Dakshina Samskarika Vedi. Nair was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 2018 for the work Guru Pournami.

Sruthi was formed in 2005 by a small group of friends living in the UK and originating from Kerala, India, who were united by passion and fondness towards the art, literature and culture of Kerala.
Sruthi was formed with the intention to maintain this passion, to explore ways of nourishing it through interaction with artists and literary figures from Kerala, to identify and develop artistic talents, and to stage existing and new talent at appropriate venues.
Sruthi was formally inaugurated on 1st October 2005 by Padma Vibhushan Prof. Late O. N. V. Kurup, the internationally acclaimed Malayalam poet.
