Retired Keralite doctor from Chesterfield passed away

CHESTERFIELD Sept 19: Dr KR Manilal (80), from Chesterfield passed away on Saturday 18th September 2021 at 6pm IST (1:30 pm UK time), close friends informed this website.

Dr KR Manilal was hospitalised for the last one week at Chesterfield Royal Hospital due to health issues.

He was settled with his family at 1, Priory Close, Walton, Chesterfield.

He leaves behind wife Leela Manilal, daughter Chinnu Manilal, Dr KR Harilal & Dr Radha Harilal, Er. KR Mohan Lal & Ambily Mohan Lal, Prof. K. R. Kanthilal Mrs. Asha Prakash & Dr. S. Prakash

Dr Manilal completed his MBBS from Government Medical College, Trivandrum in 1966, after which he joined Kerala Health Services and then started working with Government Medical College in Thiruvananthapuram.

He was also a part of Indian Army Medical Corps for around 6 years as Captain during which he served in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War.

In 1975, Dr Manilal migrated to the UK for higher education, post which he worked with NHS for 42 years at Liverpool, Manchester and Chesterfield.

He retired on grounds of ill health three years back.

Cremation will be held in London.
