NHS staff offered free rides and takeaways by Uber this Christmas: Details to Claim

LONDON Dec 2: NHS workers will be able to claim free takeaways and Uber rides over the festive period as a ‘thank you’ for their hard work during the pandemic.

Anyone with an NHS or HSC email address will be able to claim two £10 Uber rides to get to and from work between Christmas and Boxing Day, the taxi firm has announced.

Front line workers will also get a free £10 meal to redeem over the festive season via Uber Eats.

Uber Medics is also returning, in partnership with Mastercard. The service offers all NHS staff and UK care home staff in England and Wales a 25% discount on all rides until the end of 2020.

If using a Mastercard, the discount will be 50%.

NHS and HSC staff need to ensure that their Uber account is linked to their NHS or HSC email address by December 20 to claim the freebie.

Closer to the promotion going live on December 23, account holders will be emailed a promo code which they’ll need to add to their Uber account to redeem the offer.

The Uber and Uber Eats codes can be redeemed throughout Christmas week, from December 23 to 27.

The promotion will be automatically added to your next trip – and is equivalent to £10 off two journeys.

Jamie Heywood, Uber’s regional general manager for Northern and Eastern Europe said: “More than ever before, we owe the NHS a debt of gratitude.

“NHS and doctors, nurses and support staff deserve a helping hand this Christmas especially during times when travel may be difficult and services are reduced.”
