Entire Kerala should be locked down, all people should be tested for coronavirus: IMA

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM March 23: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has advised entire lockdown in the state. Along with that, it has advised the government to take necessary steps for conducting coronavirus tests of all people including those having symptoms, people working in the medical field and rest of the population as well.

Before the lockdown of that state, measures should be taken to ensure supply of essentials, IMA said in its statement.

In order to check community spread, random tests should be held and based on the results the government should take stringent actions.

The IMA said it is prepared to filter one thirds of doctos in the state into a second tier in the wake of the virus spread.

The association has asked the private hospitals to take a positive approach in this regard.

Preparations have been made to use the beds and theatre rooms for this by following government guidelines, the statement reads.
The IMA has also advised doctors with age over 60 years to avoid places where they could possibly contract the virus.
The directives were prepared by the IMA after a video conference with about 20 health experts across the state.
