LONDON Oct 29: More students those who are trying to reach UK are getting arrested after them obtaining fake certificate, news reports from Kerala said. It was last week this website reported that three students were arrested.

The three students are natives of Angamaly, Kochi Vennala and Elanji. The three were arrested prior to boarding the Air India direct flight to London last on 24th October 2021. All the three were arrested and later released on bail.

Now reports say four more students from Pattambi, Vazhakkulam, and Athanikkal were arrested and handed over to the emigration authorities for using forged certificates to travel to the UK.

One of the student had forged certificates of Plus Two and B.Com, which he secured reportedly for Rs90,000. second student also had forged Plus Two and degree certificates, which were allegedly procured for Rs50,000. Ninu, who had not cleared Plus Two, had allegedly secured the forged Plus Two certificate for Rs30,000. Sahana was allegedly in possession of a fake BBA certificate procured for Rs40,000.

All the certificates were forged in the name of educational institutions outside Kerala, The Hindu reported.

They were reportedly on their way to the UK for doing courses on student visa.

A team of senior police officers led by District Police Chief (Ernakulam Rural) K. Karthick will investigate the incident.

“The ones who forged the certificates will be nabbed soon. We have expanded the probe far and wide. They had reportedly secured the certificates from various places. We are exploring the possibility of more people having secured such forged certificates,” said Mr. Karthick.

Reports from Kerala today said that in a major breakthrough in the case in which seven persons were arrested with fake education certificates when they arrived at Kochi airport to board flights to the UK with student visas, the middleman who provided the fake certificates were arrested on Thursday.

Naufal of Trithala, Palakkad, had given the fake certificates to the students, said police.

According to reports in The Indian Express it says there is an active racket supplying fake certificates in Kerala.

“The Plus II and degree certificates are from universities out of the state. But these persons collected them from the people in Kottayam, Kochi and other locations. Several persons have obtained degree certificates from rackets like this and the police are examining the matter,” said an officer.

Many people paid exorbitant amounts for fake education certificates to go to the UK for continuing higher education.
