Indian Students In UK Urged To Check Eligibility To Vote: Registration Ends Today (20/4/26)

LONDON April 20: Indian students across the UK are being urged to act fast and check if they’re eligible to vote in the upcoming local elections on May 7, as voter registration closes today (April 20) at 11:59 pm.

The “My Vote Matters” campaign, launched by the National Indian Students and Alumni Union (NISAU) UK, aims to raise awareness among international students—many of whom are unaware that they may have voting rights.

Under UK law, Commonwealth citizens, including Indians, with valid immigration status can register to vote in local elections. Yet, misconceptions persist, with many assuming only British citizens are eligible.

If you have valid leave to remain, you could have a say in decisions that directly impact your life—from cost of living to post-study career opportunities.

Registration takes less than two minutes and can be completed online at: www.gov.uk/register-to-vote

This is your chance to be heard. Don’t miss it.

📢 Spread the word—share this with someone who hasn’t registered yet.
