Maidstone Malayalee Association elects new office bearers: Raji Kurian is new president

MAIDSTONE (Kent) Jan 27: Maidstone Malayalee Association, a prominent Malayalee association in Kent, has selected its office bearers for the year 2021.

The new board was elected at the annual general meeting held online due to the Covid pandemic.

Raji Kurian was elected president, Binu George secretary and Renju ​​Varghese will hold the position of treasurer.

Shaji P James, Baiju Daniel, Anthony Milan Xavier, Lincy Kurian and Sneha Baby were also elected as members of the Executive Committee.

The general meeting lauded last year’s committee for overcoming the crises raised by Covid and for coordinating the activities of the association and making it a success, and wished the new committee all success.

The fundraising marathon ‘Go the Distance’, organized by Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS charity in association with the association, was a huge success.

The association demonstrated its commitment by donating the entire amount raised through the event, which was attended by more than 50 members in various bubbles, in line with Covid standards.

In addition, other events held under limited circumstances provided members with considerable relief in the midst of this epidemic.

The ‘Youth Club’ for young people in MMA was formed at an online committee meeting on Saturday, January 23rd. The committee appointed Anthony Milan Xavier and Sneha Baby as Youth Club Co-ordinators.

Shaji P James will be the co-ordinator of the ‘Men’s Club’ and Lincy Kurian will be the co-ordinator of the women’s ‘Maithri’.

Baiju Daniel has been appointed Program Coordinator in charge of MMA’s one-year events.

The MMA Volunteer Group was formed to provide essential assistance to isolated families and students in the Covid crisis.

‘Mother’s Day’ celebrations will be held online on March 13, 2021 as the first event led by the newly elected committee.

On that day, there will be an ‘Antakshari’ competition held with the participation of the families of the association.

The committee said it was envisioning a number of programs for children and adults to cope with the Covid situation.
