Former UUKMA president Manoj Pillai to contest as Tory party candidate in UK local elections

POOLE (Dorset) April 6: Former UUKMA president Manoj Pillai will contest as a Tory candidate in the forthcoming Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) council elections to be held on 4 May 2023.

Manoj will contest for the Canford Heath ward of Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole Council which is a Liberal Democrats stronghold.

Manoj is all set to bring about a whiff of fresh air within the Canford Heath ward with his previous experience as a veteran community leader who has proven his mettle in several challenging times.

Previously Manoj was the national president of UUKMA (Union of UK Malayalee Association), the world’s largest organisation of expatriates of Kerala, in the UK for three years.

He also served as president of the local community organisation of expatriate Keralites in Dorset.

Manoj is also an event organiser of Dorset Mela which runs yearly at Poole Park for raising funds for local charities.

He is also a keen sports enthusiast with being the founder and Chair of Royal Challengers Cricket Club affiliated with the Saturday League of Dorset Cricket Board.

He is at present the executive committee member of ARCH in Canford Heath and handles the social media for the association.

A long time member of Conservative Party, Manoj believes that this is the only party which care for the people of this country and thrives to take the country forwards in every aspects.

He is quite passionate about Britan’s culture of liberty and free speech enjoyed in the country along with Britain’s multicultural and diverse society.

According to him the Conservative Party always been tested and proved whenever the country faced difficult times and have seen that how well the party stand together to protect the country’s interest and values.

Manoj has been working with Morebus since 2005 and currently holds the role of a supervisor.

Manoj moved to Canford Heath in 2016 where his wife works as a registered Nurse with Poole Hospital NHS Trust. The couple have three children with his two daughters studying at Parkstone Grammar School and son at Canford Heath Junior. The family is from Thiruvalla in Kerala.
