UK clocks go back this weekend – here’s what you need to know

LONDON Oct 22: British Summer Time (BST) officially comes to an end this weekend as clocks across the UK go back by one hour.

The change will take place in the early hours of Sunday, 25 October, when clocks go back from 2am to 1am, giving people an extra hour in bed.

While many will welcome the extra hour of sleep, the change also means darker evenings as sunset arrives an hour earlier. Mornings will initially feel lighter, with sunrise occurring earlier.

Households are being reminded to check their clocks and make sure any devices that do not update automatically are adjusted before the start of the new week.

The end of BST marks the return to Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) for the winter months. The clocks will not go forward again until Sunday, 28 March 2027, when British Summer Time returns.
