East Ham resident to be honoured for promoting spiritual values and social services in UK

LONDON April 19: Suresh Thampi, a long-time resident of East Ham in London, is set to be honored with an award recognizing his outstanding contribution to promoting Hindu culture and spiritual values across the UK.

The award will be presented by the Sivasri Anna Website in collaboration with the Global Hindu Spiritual & Cultural Centre. The ceremony aims to celebrate individuals who have made exceptional contributions to religious and social service within the UK community. It will be held under the guidance of Vikasratna Dr. Sivasri K. Pichai Sivachariar, founder of the Global Hindu Spiritual & Cultural Centre (Pillayarpatti).

According to the invitation, the organizers wish to acknowledge Suresh Thampi’s decades of dedicated service and have requested his presence to personally receive the honor.

Suresh Thampi is respected for his selfless efforts in nurturing and passing on Hindu cultural and spiritual traditions to younger generations in England. Since arriving in the UK in 1979, he has been actively involved in charitable and community service, beginning his work in 1983 with organizations such as SNGM UK, MAUK, and the Catholic Association UK.

A talented sportsman and singer, he has contributed significantly to both community organizations and individual causes. For over 35 years, he has organized and performed bhajans across the UK, engaging with diverse communities including Tamil, Sri Lankan, Malayali, and North Indian groups, as well as participating in events at venues such as the Trinity Church Centre in East Ham.

He has held key roles including Arts Secretary of MAUK (Manor Park) and Social Service and Arts Secretary of the Sree Narayana Guru Mission UK. In addition, he currently serves as Chairman for Elders at the Unite Union UK (Manor Park branch).

A multilingual singer, Suresh Thampi performs in Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, and Bengali, and has been singing for over 43 years in support of various charitable initiatives. Beyond music, he has also made his mark in the performing arts, directing and acting in more than fifteen dramas in the UK under different organizations—a passion he continues to pursue. Through his lifelong dedication to culture, spirituality, and community service, Suresh Thampi has become a respected figure whose work continues to inspire many across the UK.
