Kerala assembly to pass unanimous resolution against Citizenship Amendment Act on December 31

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Dec 31: The state government will present an official resolution on December 31 requesting the central government to revoke the unconstitutional CAA.

The resolution will request the centre not to issue a notification on the controversial act which will stop the act from coming into force.

The state government will try to pass the resolution unanimously after coming to an understanding with the opposition.In the meanwhile, the Speaker has not informed the governor about the special assembly to pass the resolution.

The Speaker has said the assembly is summoned to recognize a resolution to extend the SC/ST reservation at the Assembly and Parliament for 10 years.

This was accepted by the governor.Assemblies of state government don’t have the power to make a law against the central law. However, there are no legal barriers to pass a resolution against central law.
