Kerala relaxes Covid norms: Only international passengers with symptoms need to quarantine

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Feb 4: International passengers coming for short stay duration of less than 7 days need not quarantine, a press note issued by the Health & Welfare Department of Kerala government said.

The press note issued on 1st February 2022, modifies the earlier guideline issued on 27th December 2021.

The international travellers arriving in the state should follow all other norms set out by the Ministry of Health & Welfare for testing.

The travellers will have to stay at their home or hotel as the case may be.

They are advised to follow strict Covid appropriate behaviour and conduct their business and return back within 7 days.

If they are detected Covid positive then they should report to the health institutions and avail treatment.

Meanwhile the earlier rules pertaining to those in Kerala for more than 7 days remain as it is.

All international air passengers arriving in the State will have to undergo a mandatory seven-day home quarantine and an RT-PCR test on the eight day,

Those who are negative will go on seven-day home quarantine now, followed by RT-PCR on eighth day. If negative they will be on self observation for another seven days. The samples which test positive will be sent for genomic sequencing.

Repeat COVID-19 testing will be done if any individual displays any symptoms while under quarantine or self-observation.
