Held yesterday at Eaton Bray Hall, the milestone celebration brought together families and community members for a day of recognition, cultural performances and togetherness, marking a decade of LUMMA’s contribution to the community.

A key moment in the programme was the recognition of Muhammad Niyas for his promising musical talent. The young singer, who is steadily making his mark, later took to the stage for a live performance that delighted the audience and provided a fitting finale to the anniversary celebrations.

Founded in 2016, LUMMA marked ten years of service guided by its core values of Faith, Charity, Togetherness and Community. Over the past decade, the association has supported those in need through various initiatives, including its flagship interest-free loan programme.

In his presidential address, LUMMA President Moosan Marakkar highlighted the importance of unity, cooperation and collective responsibility, reflecting on how these values had shaped the association’s journey and achievements over the past ten years.

Luton Mayor Javed Hussain attended as guest of honour and presented mementos to three individuals in recognition of their contributions to the community.

Zahir Walapil was honoured for his dedicated community service, while Dr Riaz Hassan was recognised for his philanthropy and instrumental role in helping LUMMA grow over the years. Muhammad Niyas was also recognised for his emerging musical talent, adding a special personal milestone to an already memorable occasion.

With his recognition and live performance, Niyas emerged as one of the standout features of the anniversary programme, reflecting the importance of encouraging young talent and celebrating individual achievements alongside collective community progress.

The 10th anniversary was not only a celebration of LUMMA’s achievements since 2016, but also an opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to supporting the community, strengthening relationships and nurturing the talents of future generations.
