Wales accident: Keralite nursing student’s condition remains critical: Malayalee car driver arrived only recently

WALES May 6: The car which was involved in the accident in Wales where four occupants of the car were taken to hospital following the crash on the A48, near Bonvilston, Vale of Glamorgan, at 6am on May 3, was driven by a newly arrived Keralite.

It is believed that following the accident the newly arrived Keralite is absconding.

While the cause of the accident remains unknown, this incident serves as a crucial reminder of the importance for all newcomers, including recent migrants, to adhere to the rules and regulations in the UK.

Given that the accident occurred in the early hours of the morning, one potential factor under consideration is the possibility that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the crash.

South Wales Police spokesperson said: “The four occupants of the car have been taken to the University Hospital of Wales, one with life-threatening injuries, the other three are described has having non-life-threatening injuries.”

The motives behind the five individuals traveling together in the car at 6 am remain uncertain, adding another layer of mystery to this unfortunate incident.

According to reports the five were nursing students at South Wales USW University and the student who suffered life threatening injuries is from Nilambur in Kerala.

Accidents caused by newly arriving Keralite migrant drivers are on the increase. There have been several incidents where these drivers have caused deaths in the last three years.

There are plenty of different causes of car accidents. However, in UK three are more common than others are Speeding, Drunk driving, Human error.

It was only in April 2024 it was reported about a speeding Malayalee student driver in the UK, who hit a pedestrian on a zebra crossing just hours after passing his driving test was jailed after admitting causing death by dangerous driving.

In 2021, two Malayalee adults have been confirmed dead leaving a one-year-old baby in serious condition alongwith two other adults who were all travelling in the same car following a crash involving a lorry on the A436 in Gloucestershire.

In 2020 A Keralite student has died and two others have been injured in an accident involving their car colliding with another vehicle, student sources informed this website.

According to driving instructors it is recommendable for newly arrived migrant drivers, especially those who haven’t driven outside Kerala, to take lessons with UK driving instructors to learn know more about the road rules and signs.
