A Culinary Lockdown Special with BBC Masterchef Suresh Pillai: An exposition into the Malayalee method of cooking (Video Interview)

CROYDON May 19: The lockdown implemented following the Covid pandemic has led to BBC Masterchef contestant Suresh Pillai getting held up in London. Suresh Pillai, who is at present the Culinary Director and Corporate Executive Chef at The Raviz group of Hotels in Kerala, was in London on a visit when the lockdown was implemented.

During his days of the lockdown, CS Jeothy Palachira, based in Croydon, caught up with Suresh Pillai at a local park to do a video interview as part of their series of videos released during the lockdown period on their channel Mayday Insight.

Suresh Pillai does touch on the aspect of how Keralites have the tendency to overcook and add all spices and masala for the food to taste all the same even though “There are no flavours that can come close to those found in our own Kerala.”

He also provides insight into the transitions of his own career had undergone as a result of his participation on the well-renowned BBC MasterChef competition.

These three interesting pieces of videos give us a glimpse into some of the dos and don’ts of cooking and also insight into Suresh’s success story.
