LONDON Nov 23: The vibrant Hindu community in Essex came together to celebrate Diwali in a grand event organized by the Essex Hindu Samajam (EHS) last week. The festivities unfolded at the Hatfield Peveral Hall in Chelmsford, setting the stage for a memorable occasion.

The Diwali celebration was officially inaugurated by the honorable Chelmsford Mayor, Linda Mascot, who graced the occasion with her presence.

The event also featured a special concert in her honor, adding a touch of cultural richness to the festivities.

Key figures from the EHS, including Vice President Resmi Rajesh, Secretary YadhuNandan, Treasurer Sajesh Kumar, Joint Secretary Divya Aswin, and Board Directors Brijesh VT, Radhakrishnan Kuruppath, Vinu V R, Jith Gopinath, were actively involved in the proceedings. The Festival Committee Coordinators, Rakesh Vallil, Ajay Kailas, Sneha Pridesh, Lakshmi Yadhu, and Advisory Board Members Shanil Anangarath, Anoop Korattikunnel, were also present, adding to the sense of community and togetherness.

The Diwali functions commenced with a traditional Lakshmi Pooja, conducted with grace by Dr. Mamatha Hampesh. The cultural program that followed was a true highlight, featuring rhythmic dances and graceful songs performed by enthusiastic children, showcasing the richness of Hindu culture.

A special moment during the celebration was when Mayor Linda Mascot distributed medals and certificates to individuals who had achieved outstanding feats in the previous year, acknowledging their contributions to the community.

The festive spirit continued with a tempting and delicious dinner served to all attendees, fostering a sense of camaraderie.

The Essex Hindu Samajam, being a leading community organization for Hindus in Essex, proudly boasts members from all corners of Essex County and neighboring cities like Southend and Romford. The event not only celebrated Diwali but also strengthened the bonds within the community, creating lasting memories for all who participated.
