Southampton Malayali Charged with Attempted Murder After Portswood Stabbing

SOUTHAMPTON, Sept. 4: A 38-year-old Southampton resident of Malayali origin has been charged with attempted murder following a serious stabbing incident in the city’s Portswood area.

Police were called shortly after 10pm on Tuesday, September 1, after receiving reports that a man had suffered a stab wound to his abdomen at an address on Brookvale Road.

Officers who arrived at the scene found a 36-year-old man with serious injuries. He was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital for further treatment.

Three people were arrested as part of the subsequent investigation.

Arun Chandran Geetha, 38, of Forster Road, Southampton, has been charged with attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and possession of a bladed article.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Southampton Magistrates’ Court on Friday, September 4.

A 32-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 29-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender, have both been released on bail with conditions.
