LONDON Jan 6: East London Malayalees’ favourite chef Muhammed Ibrahim’s demise has left UK Malayalees saddened.

Muhammed Ibrahim was a highly respected chef and native of Valapattanam in Kannur. He passed away in Kerala.

Ibrahim was widely known by the affectionate nickname ‘Koch uncle’ among those who had the privilege of knowing him and tasting his culinary creations.

In addition to his noteworthy career, Muhammed Ibrahim was a compassionate humanitarian, providing hundreds of free meals to people in East Ham and London during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

His significant contributions to making Thattukada, a popular Malayali restaurant in Eastham, a favorite dining spot for London’s Malayalee community through his expertise in Kerala’s traditional dishes will not be forgotten.

Born and raised in Mumbai, Ibrahim’s culinary journey took him through various cities in North India before he ultimately settled in Britain. His exceptional skills in the kitchen were also recognized in Dubai, where he served as a culinary expert.

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Muhammed Ibrahim selflessly worked alongside other philanthropists to provide free meals to Malayalees and other Indians in need, including students. The loss of this remarkable humanitarian has deeply saddened the Malayalee community in the UK.
