India may allow scheduled international flights to restart from Dec 15 from Covid controlled countries

LONDON Nov 26: India government is likely to allow scheduled international flights from countries where the Covid situation is under control, Times of India reported quoting sources from the government.

However, the present air bubble agreements will continue with those countries witnessing resurgence of Covid such as some EU countries and others where new Covid variants have been detected.

India were considering the resumption of scheduled international flights and had given indication previously that they are likely to start by end of the year.

Indications are that scheduled flights may begin from December 15, 2021.

The scheduled international flights were suspended since March 2020.

Since the air bubble agreement was in place international fares have been extremely high.

The tourism industry has also been putting pressure on the India government to normalise scheduled international flights from those countries where Covid is under control and also where vaccination certificates are all in place.
