By A Staff Reporter

LONDON Jan 14: Recruitment agents in Kerala are selling migration dreams to young and immature 18 and 19 year olds those who havent learnt anything about migration and how to survive on their own in different countries, migration expert Prof Irudaya Rajan said.

Dr Irudaya Rajan who is Chair of International Institute for Migration and Development, under the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, made this observation while speaking to Balagopal, editor of ukmalayalee.com, in their interview session titled The Migration Stories. The first episode of this interview was launched last Sunday and the second episode has come out today (Sunday)

Dr Irudaya Rajan also opined that Kerala diaspora can play an important role in the development of Kerala and also addressing the present ills prevailing the state. He also opined that only the diaspora can solve their problems by standing united and taking a lead in addressing the issues they face.

He said as an example that Air India could have been bought by the Kerala diaspora and they could have run it as Air Kerala. According to him the top five rich Indians in the Guld could have put together the funds and bought Air India.

He also said that highly literate migrants are de-skilling themselves in the UK by settling for healthcare jobs just for the sake of securing the PR (Permanent Residency). Listen to the first episode of the video interview with Prof Irudaya Rajan below.
