London Vishu Celebrations on April 25 in Croydon

LONDON, April 21: The vibrant festival of Vishu will be celebrated in Croydon with “London Vishu Vilakku” on Saturday, April 25, 2026. The event will take place from 5:30pm at the West Thornton Community Centre, 731–735 London Road, Thornton Heath CR7 6AU.

Organised by the London Sri Guruvayurappan Temple, the celebration promises a rich blend of spirituality, culture, and community spirit, marking the Malayalam New Year—a time symbolising prosperity, renewal, and hope.

The evening will feature the traditional Vishu Kazhchakal, a ceremonial display representing abundance and auspicious beginnings. A special segment, Ormakalil Hariyettan, will add a nostalgic and personal dimension to the programme.

Music and dance will play a key role in the festivities. Highlights include Bhakthiganasudha, a devotional music presentation, and Vishukkani, a musical dance drama performed by children of GSS, showcasing young talent and storytelling rooted in tradition. Audiences can also look forward to Nrithasilpam, presented by Dhakshina UK, offering an engaging display of classical dance.

The spiritual ambience will continue with Deeparadhana (lamp worship), followed by the distribution of Prasada Ootu (Vishu Sadhya), a traditional festive meal that captures the essence of the celebration.

Supported by organisations including Mohanji Foundation UK, the event reflects a collaborative effort to bring the community together.

“London Vishu Vilakku” promises an enriching experience, blending devotion and cultural heritage while bringing a touch of Kerala’s traditions to the heart of London. For more information or participation details, attendees are encouraged to contact the organisers or visit the temple’s official channels.
