Indian High Commissioner inaugurates Kerala nursing community’s Nurses Day celebrations

LONDON May 23: Gaitri Issar Kumar, the Indian High Commissioner in London inaugurated International Nurses Day celebration hosted by the Keralite community in the UK.
The online celebrations, hosted jointly by Union of UK Malayalee Associations (UUKMA) and UUKMA Nurses Forum (UNF), had Duncan Burton, deputy chief nursing officer for England, as the chief guest.
The celebrations will be held on Sunday 23rd May 2021 at 5pm was Live streamed through UUKMA’s Facebook page.

Various events that follow will bring together prominent figures in the field of nursing as well as eminent personalities from the social arts.
UUKMA President Manoj Kumar Pillai, General Secretary Alex Varghese, Vice President Advocate Eby Sebastian, UUKMA Advisory Board Member and UUKMA Nurses Forum Former Coordinator Thampi Jose, RCN Representative and UUKMA London Coordinator Abraham Ponnumpuraidam will address the gathering.
UUKMA Kalabhushanam award winner Deepa Nair will officiate the event. UUKMA National Joint Secretary and UNF National Coordinator Sajan Sathyan will welcome the gathering.
A cross section of nurses from all over the UK will perform at the lamp lighting ceremony, led by UUKMA National Joint Secretary Salina Sajeev.
UNF President Sindhu Unni will deliver the Nurses’ Day message.
Secretary Leenumol Chacko will express gratitude. UUKMA Vice President Litty Jijo, UUKMA Joint Treasurer Tito Thomas and UNF Representative Shiny Bijoy will lead the celebrations.
Dr Abdul Nasser, Jen Watson, Sonia Luby, Minija Joseph, Dr Dilla Davis, Dr Parveen Ali, Pansy Jose, Bipin Raj, Lovely Siby, Abin Thomas, Rose Jimmichan, Shiny Mathew, Yadu Krishna will deliver speeches sharing their experiences during the time of Covid.
Noted Idea Star Singer winner Joby John and Kairali TV song Gandharva music winner MJ. Rajmohan and others will perform for the Nurses’ Day celebrations.
A variety of artistic performances by nurses from UUKMA’s regional levels will also give performances during the celebrations.
The event will start live on Sunday, May 23 at 5 PM (UK) at 9.30 PM (India) via UUKMA’s Facebook page.
Artistes Ashita Xavier, Jasmine Pramod, Bindu Soman and Aji, V. Pillai, Smitha Thottam, Shinu Jose, Soni K. Jose, Tessie Sojan & Maria Sojan, Marina Leo, Joma & Breeze, Anna Anuj, Mini Benny and Sofia Biju, Salford Nurses will entertain the audience with various art shows.
