MAUK Onasadhya on Sept 8: A Unique Celebration of Tradition and Charity: Reserve Tickets

LONDON Aug 14: Malayalee Association of the UK (MAUK) is set to host its annual Onasadhya, a cherished event that stands out for its unique approach and strong emphasis on tradition, community, and charity.

Homemade and Authentic: Unlike many events, the Onasadhya prepared by MAUK is a true labour of love. All main dishes are cooked on-site by MAUK volunteers under the guidance of the association’s elders. No restaurant orders are involved, ensuring an authentic, homemade feast that captures the essence of Kerala.

A UK Malayalee Tradition: Since the mid-1970s, MAUK members and their friends have gathered yearly for Onasadhya, bringing and sharing home-cooked dishes. This long-standing tradition has become a hallmark of the UK Malayalee community, reflecting their deep cultural roots.

Charity at the Core: The Onasadhya is not just about enjoying a delicious meal; it’s about giving back. For every Sadhya served in the UK, MAUK provides an equivalent meal to vulnerable children and elders in Kerala. This commitment to charity is a central part of the event, making it a celebration with a purpose.

A Celebration of Community: Every year, over 300 Malayalees from across the UK, along with members of the local community, come together for MAUK’s Onasadhya. It’s an event that fosters community cohesion and brings people together in the spirit of Onam.
