THIRUVANTHAPURAM Sept 28: Kerala panchayats across the state will now start to switch to an e-governance system this week with its pilot run of the new Integrated Local Government Management System (ILGMS), tried out at the Chemmaruthy panchayat, completed 100 successful days since its launch.

The software, Integrated Local e-governance Management System (ILGMS), through which more than 200 services can be accessed online is developed by the Information Kerala Mission. The services available include applications for various certificates, payment of taxes and raising of complaints and appeals, The Hindu reported.

Early this year, the State government had chosen Chemmaruthy for the pilot run of its intelligent e-governance system and the residents here can now access all services offered by the panchayat from their homes.

This comes as a boon to those Non Resident Keralites who had to seek help and assistance from their relatives living in Kerala to submit an application and had to make multiple visits to get things done. Now they can do it directly from anywhere.

Anyone can apply online for a license to open a shop or obtain online permission to build a house by completing relevant forms and paying the fee.

Today, September 28, the day when Chemmaruthy panchayat completes 100 days of running the software successfully, the Integrated Local e-governance Management System will be introduced in 150 more grama panchayats across Kerala, launched by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at a function presided over by Local Self Government Minister AC Moideen.
