World leaders begin to share Namaste bow amid coronavirus outbreak

LONDON March 13: Prince Charles shared a Namaste bow with Baroness Floella Benjamin yesterday amid the coronavirus pandemic, as she collected her damehood at Buckingham Palace.

The pair were spotted exchanging the greeting, which avoids any unnecessary touching of hands, during the investiture ceremony.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump and Leo Varadkar were also seen greeting each other with a namaste gesture instead of shaking hands as they met at the White House.
The two leaders acted on official health advice by making a bow gesture. The president said he “felt weird” with the non-contact gesture as he spoke from the Oval Office.
“We didn’t shake hands today and we looked at each other and said, ‘what are we going to do?’,” Mr Trump said.
