Keralite in UK jailed for 3 years for sexual assault: Know About Sex Offenders’ Register

KETTERING Oct 5: A 47-year-old man from Kettering, has been sentenced to 36 months in prison following convictions for three separate sexual assaults that occurred in Rushden and Kettering.

Paul, a Keralite, was found guilty of sexually assaulting a woman at a residence in Rushden on March 5, 2019. He was also convicted of two further sexual assaults in Kettering on October 13, 2021. The first of these assaults occurred on Silver Street, where Paul was captured on CCTV striking a woman on the bottom. When confronted by the victim, he walked away. Shortly afterward, Paul entered Horse Market and sexually assaulted another woman. Members of the public intervened, restraining him until police arrived.

Paul, from Kettering, initially appeared in Northampton Magistrates’ Court on October 15, 2021, facing charges of sexual assault, harassment, and assault, in addition to failure to provide a breath specimen while driving. He was disqualified from driving for 36 months and ordered to pay fines and court costs for the driving-related offence.

On July 24, 2024, Northampton Crown Court sentenced Paul to 36 months in prison for the three sexual assaults. In addition to the prison sentence, Paul was handed a five-year restraining order, barring him from contacting the victim from the Rushden incident. He has also been placed on the sex offenders’ register indefinitely.

Police commended the bravery of the victims and the quick actions of the public in helping bring Paul to justice.

Many employers still have very risk-averse attitudes towards recruiting people with criminal records and these can be amplified for applicants having to declare convictions for sexual offences.
