Indian visa in 8 working days: Indian High Commission issues minimum period for visa, OCI, passport and consular services

LONDON Nov 23: The Indian High Commission in London has issued a public notice specifying how much time it would take for VFS and the High Commission to process application for visa, passport and other consular services.

According to the High Commission note, the minimum processing time for various visas, passport, OCI or other consular services application will be 8 working days. In regards to passport services it will 10 working days, passport (tatkal or emergency services) it will be 3 working days.

In regards to new OCI the minimum processing times will be 6 weeks, for OCI foreign spouse category it will be 12 weeks and for renewal of OCI card will be 6 weeks.

The notice dated 18th November 2022 states as below

The note said that the above times may vary in some cases where it is required for cross checking or requiring approval from authorities in India.

In regards to queries for checking status of applications it may be sent to email address info.inuk@vfshelpline.com or contact telephone 02037938629 only after the expiry of the minimum processing times. In the email seeking status of the application already submitted, you have to mention particulars such as full name (as in passport), nationality, passport number, application ARN or GBRL number, date of submission of application and VFS Centre at which application was submitted. Also mention your contact details such as mobile number. This will enable to trace your application and respond quickly.

For emergency visa and/or Tatkal passport service, applicants may send email with necessary particulars to the High Commission of India at email inf.london@mea.gov.in or contact 02076323025 or 02076323168 (during office hours from 10am to 5pm) and 07768765035 (after office hours).

To register any complaint against the quality of service at any of the service centres run by VFS you may email inf.london@mea.gov.in, said the note from Indian High Commission.
