KCWA’s Golden Jubilee Funday Sparkles with Record Turnout and Cultural Brilliance

CROYDON July 14: The Kerala Cultural and Welfare Association (KCWA) marked a defining moment in its 50-year journey with a vibrant and historic Funday celebration this summer. Held under blazing skies, the event attracted a record number of attendees, celebrating heritage, community spirit, and unity. KCWA founder member and trustee Mr. Mangalavadanan welcomed everyone, and UUKMA Southeast President Mr. Jipson Thomas officially flagged off the event.

Women Shine in Mega Thiruvathira Performance

The spotlight fell on the dazzling Mega Thiruvathira, led by KCWA Arts Club Secretary Seely Prem Nair. With remarkable dedication, she trained an enthusiastic group of women to near perfection in record time, resulting in a stunning performance that symbolised both tradition and empowerment.

Youth Power & Fierce Sportsmanship

KCWA’s youth wing, YUVA, took charge of the Tug of War competition, drawing spirited cheers from the crowd. The finale saw Chatfield Warriors defeat Redbulls Croydon, earning both a victory cup and a cash prize. For the children, joy came in the form of classic races — lemon and spoon, three-legged dash, and more — delighting families and spectators alike. KCWA Sports Secretary Mr. Sunny Janardanan showcased his managerial prowess in running the competitions smoothly.

Food Stalls & Local Flair

The refreshment zone brimmed with community flavour: Chai Kadai Croydon served popular snacks, while Bhoomi Jewellers, Regallo Fashions, and YUVA’s melon juice counter — led by Surya and Arun — added freshness and sparkle to the day’s festivities.

Honouring Legacy and Community Builders

KCWA’s founder members — Mangalavadanan, Eugene Pereira, Chandrabose, Vijayakumar, and Dileep — alongside Councillor Manju Shahul Hameed, graced the prize-giving ceremony. Medals were presented to winners and the exceptional Thiruvathira team, reinforcing KCWA’s enduring commitment to inclusivity and cultural preservation.

KCWA board member Mr. Aloshias Augustin hosted the event, and YUVA Secretary Shyno Thomas delivered the vote of thanks.

A Message of Gratitude

The KCWA board extended heartfelt thanks to all participants, sponsors, and volunteers whose efforts turned the Funday into a resounding success. The event not only celebrated KCWA’s golden legacy but also reaffirmed its vibrant future.
