Gillingham Challengers Host Spectacular Badminton Tournament: Cllr Vince Maple presents trophies

ROCHESTER (Kent) May 2: The Rochester Grammar School sports hall was alive with excitement on Sunday as the Gillingham Challengers Badminton Club hosted their much-anticipated 4th Ever-Rolling Trophy Badminton Tournament.

Drawing 44 teams from across Medway and beyond, the tournament delivered a full day of thrilling matches, community spirit, and high-level badminton. Competitors battled it out in two main categories—Intermediate and 50+—demonstrating impressive skill, resilience, and sportsmanship.

Spectators packed the venue, cheering on participants and enjoying an action-packed schedule of games that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. The electric atmosphere peaked during the award ceremony, where Councillor Vince Maple, Leader of Medway Council, presented trophies to the top teams.

Cllr. Maple commended the Gillingham Challengers for their tireless efforts in promoting fitness, inclusivity, and community connection through grassroots sport.
