CIAL holds meeting with Air India: Cochin–London Gatwick Operations will restart

KOCHI Feb 5: As per the instructions of the Government of Kerala, representing the Board of Directors, the senior management of Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL), led by the Managing Director, S. Suhas IAS and Airport Director, Shri Manu G. held a strategic meeting with the leadership of Air India in Delhi to discuss the airline’s decision to withdraw its Cochin–London Gatwick service.

During the discussions, CIAL emphasized the strategic importance of the route for Kerala’s connectivity with the UK and proposed a structured incentive scheme to support operations until they achieve commercial stability. In response, Air India assured CIAL that it will reconsider the decision over the course of next few months, following the summer schedule, once Air India evaluates CIAL’s commercial proposal.

Both parties remain committed to working towards a sustainable solution that aligns with passenger demand and enhances international connectivity from Cochin.

Further deliberations will take place to assess the feasibility of reinstating the service in the near future. Air India also assured that they are evaluating enhancing overall connectivity from COK in the future, subject to aircraft availability.
