Indian High Commission commemorates death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi in London

LONDON Jan 31: The High Commission of India paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi and other martyrs who laid their lives for India’s freedom at the Parliament Square in Westminster in London.
January 30, the day on which Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated is commemorated as Martyrs’ Day. High Commissioner Mrs Ruchi Ghanashyam addressed the gathering and underlined the relevance of the ideals and messages of Mahatma in today’s world.
Other speakers also remembered Mahatma Gandhi and his principles.
The participants observed silence for two minutes and floral tributes were paid.
Buddhist Monks and Dr Nanda Kumar from Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan offered prayers on the occasion.
The students of the Bhavan rendered the favorite devotional songs of Mahatma Gandhi.
The commemoration ended with the tribute at the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Parliament Square, London.
