THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Feb 12: The state women’s commission Monday registered a case against S Rajendran MLA for his derogatory remarks against Devikulam subcollector Renu Raj.

Women’s Commission has taken up a suo moto case against the MLA for openly insulting the woman official. He used abusive language against her when she along with revenue officials came to stop the illegal construction in Munnar.

He said, “She doesn’t have brains, she studied only to become a collector, such people will have only so much brains. The video of the incident had sparked a controversy. He later apologised for the remarks.

In the meantime, Renu Raj handed over the report which has to be submitted in the court in connection with the encroachment in Munnar panchayat, to the AG.

The subcollector’s report mentioned that blocking illegal construction is violation of court and that the construction should be viewed as a contempt of court action.
