NEW DELHI May 9: The Supreme Court Wednesday ordered to demolish five apartments at Marad in Kochi for violating coastal regulation rules.
The court has directed to submit a report within a month after demolishing the apartments.
The order was passed on the plea filed by coastal management authority pointing that the rules have been violated.
The order of the bench led by Justice Arun Mishra has directed to demolish Holy Faith, Kayaloram, Alfa Ventures, Heritage and Jane Housing apartments.
The court has observed that Kerala cannot afford further flooding due to unauthorized construction. The court also said illegal constructions are also a reason for the floods in Kerala.
