KOCHI May 2: Now a report has come out that the Kerala government had totally ignored a secret information given to the National Investigation Agency that Malayalis from the State are being recruited in the terror organization ISIS.
Even months before that the NIA warned Kerala Govt that the brain behind Sri Lankan blasts- Zahran Hashim had strong roots in Kerala. But the state government reportedly did not take any action on the warnings.
The Centre also had warned the State but that also fell on deaf ears.
The above report came to light after the arrest of one Riyas Aboobacker for his alleged ISIS link. In last June and even before, there were reports that about 10 had fled to Yemen from Kasargode and following this NIA had done a detailed investigation in the State. The group that went to Yemen had 3 women and 5 children in it.
The report by NIA asks all police station’s secret intelligence in Kerala to keep an eye on those people, organizations, groups, etc that helps people slid to Yemen.
The Centre had recommended action against such people through Indian Passport act, but apparently, state government had ignored this too. Centre had instructed to take action against Travel agencies as well as the ship companies that help people to Yemen.
A Malayalam newspaper reports that the Centre had also warned the State government to search for fake campaigns about life in Yemen and spread the news through media about real life in Yemen. The government overlooked this instruction also.
Meanwhile, the investigation agency has found out that there are more than 30 groups in Kerala and Tamil Nadu that functions on the lines of the ideologies of Sahran Hashim, the mastermind of Sri Lankan suicide bomb attack.
They claim to have 20 lakh people as their members. The NIA has already started collecting the information on activities of Sahran in Kerala and other states.
NIA IG Alok Mithal has already reached Kochi to head the investigation. There are also special teams of Central Intelligence agencies and RAW.
