THIRUVANANTHAPURAM Nov 16: Devaswom Board Minister Kadakampally Surendran has said the government will not provide police escort for women willing to climb up to Sabarimala temple.

The police will not give protection this time to any woman coming forward but protection will be given if they come with the court order for protection.

The minsiter said this on Friday while addressing media persons over Supreme Court verdict on Sabarimala review petitions.

“In the Supreme Court verdict, the court itself should make clarifications,” he said.

The minister pointed out that Sabarimala is not a place for exhibition of activism. “Sabarimala should not be seen as place for people like Tripti Desai to show off their activism . The government had to give protection to activists in the last season but it is an old story. Now, the circumstance has changed.”

The other day Kadakampally had said that the government would obey the Supreme Court order, at any cost. “The government is welcoming the court order. But, there need to be an analysis of the content of the court order.

The Opposition should not try to reap political mileage out of the situation,” he had said.

In between, the press conference on Friday, Kadakampally also requested media persons not go behind activists and take their bytes and give counter-bytes as these people only aimed at self promotion.

“All problems start when they announce their Sabarimala visit through press conference,” he added.
