Bogus voting confirmed by EC; Case against three in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena has confirmed bogus voting in the Kasaragod constituency. K.P. Sumaayya, Selina and Padmini have been verified as the bogus voters.

Padmini voted two times. A.P. Selina has to resign as Panchayat member and face probe. Sumayya, a former Panchayat member will also face the probe.

The presiding officer has committed default, it has been found. Congress alleges that Thirikkarippur, Payyannur, and Pilathara places with the most number of bogus votes. The party had also submitted CCTV footage verifying the allegation.

Following the Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena’s confirmation of bogus voting at Kasaragod, allegations have been raised against UDF for bogus voting at Kannur.

Footage has been released of two IUML activists, Muhammed Fayiz and Ashiq, casting multiple votes at two polling booths in Kallyasseri. LDF has filed a complaint to the CEO.

There is another allegation that the league activists occupied the booth at Puthiyangadi Jama-at school.
