LONDON March 23: Yesterday this website had published a press note from the Kent Hindu Samajam organisaiton which stated that the fundraising campaign initiated by Kerala Hindu Welfare UK to help the family of Late Rajeev Thankappan, who was found dead in East Ham on March 2, 2019, is a scam.
Following the news, several Hindu community leaders made contacts with this website and outrightly rejected the statements made in the press note.
Majority of them who called said that they were all acting only on the basis of a humanitarian cause and were only voluntary workers trying to help a family bereaving with two young children.
They reiterated that they were only trying to help a man’s cause, who came to the UK to find a life for his family who are under severe financial contraints.
One leader queried: “When someone is dead do you look at the dead person’s legal rights before you do something about it. His body has been here nearly for three weeks and we are all trying to get the body repatriated and also provide some solace to the poor family back in Kerala”.
It was made clear to this website that the campaign was lead by Kerala Hindu Welfare UK, who acted following a request received from Late Rajeev Thankappan’s wife.
This website has seen this letter. This website was provided with a letter sent by the wife of Late Rajeev Thankappan.
The Kerala Hindu Welfare UK organisation is continuing its efforts alongwith support from other individuals and community and government organisations to have the body repatriated back to Kerala.
Latest reports say that if the final documents are verified by the Indian High Commission on Monday morning then they will issue the No Objection Certificate which will clear all for the body to be flown to Kerala on Monday evening. It is hoped that the papers will be cleared on Monday March 25, 2019 morning and the body can be taken to Kerala by Monday night.
Biju Gopinath, the individual who has been in the forefront from the start to get the body repatriated, will accompany the body to Kerala. Biju is also a native from Late Rajeev Thankappan’s home place in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Kerala Hindu Welfare UK fund raising will come to an end on Sunday March 24, 2019. The initial plans are for the organisation to hand over the funds to the family at a later date in April during the Vishu period.
If you are still willing to contribute towards this cause through Kerala Hindu Heritage UK please pay it through Kerala Hindu Welfare UK
