UKMCL beats London Sports League in charity cricket match held at Flanders Field East Ham

LONDON June 3: UK Malayalee Cricket Club (UKMCL) created history on a very auspicious day at Udaya sponsored MAUK Platinum Mela celebrations of Her Majesty’s Platinum rule in the United Kingdom.

As part of the celebrations, MAUK organised a charity cricket match between UKMCL, led by Raji, and London Sports League (LSL), commanded by Joseph.

UKMCL decided to bat first after winning the toss. With the convincing fifties scored both by Aneesh (66 runs) and Muhammed (59 runs), who put 102 runs together at the fifth wicket and remained unbeaten and set a target of 200 runs to win for LSL in twenty overs.

LSL openers required an aggressive start but the UKMCL bowling attack matched their batting performance. LSL lost wickets at regular intervals and finished 72 all out, losing by 127 runs.

Anooj of LSL, who scored 20 runs and took two wickets was the only person who fought back but his performance was not enough to win the match for LSL.

UKMCL bowlers Shiju took three wickets, Akhil, Prince, and Haneesh took two wickets each and Shahid took one wicket.

Aneesh who scored 66 runs and took a catch , was declared Man of the Match.

The trophies and medals were given away by the MAUK Chairperson, Mr. Anilkumar Edavana, and he promised to have such competitions more organised during the coming years.

MAUK did not forget to honour the support of JP and Dinesh, who were the official umpires of the said match, by giving away the momento as a token of love.

Altogether , it was a match enjoyed by one and all.
