T Haridas receives Vayalar Ramavarma Award: New Chapters to Open Abroad

THRISSUR July 22: Vayalar Ramavarma Cultural Group will begin Chapters Abroad. The Chapters will be a platform for the literati to share and promote the works of the great poet and writer Vayalar Ramavarma and also sustain the rich legacy the poet has left behind.

The Vayalar Ramavarma Cultural Group, in a meeting held rencently in Kerala, honoured distinguished non-resident Keralite personalities who have worked towards promting literature and art all over the world.

T Haridas from the UK was conferred with the award for his work in promoting art and culture.

T Haridas was a noted figure who promoted Soorya Festivals in London and Europe and has been an ardent and keen promoter of Kerala Tourism in London.

T Haridas was employed with the Indian High Commission and during his tenure there he has helped hundreds of Malayalees in times of distress in foreign lands and has received several awards for this.

Awards were conferred on Sohan Roy SK (Dubai), Thekkemuri Haridas (London), Suresh C Pillai (Kuwait), Ramesh V Panicker (Abu Dhabi), Johnny Kuruvilla (Oman), Dr R Rajagopal (Muscat), Dr Firoz Gafur (Dubai) Sindhu Sribhavan (Singapore).

The awards were presented by ex-chief minister of Kerala Oommen Chandy at an event held at the Vayalar Rama Varma Samskarika Vedi Uthsavam held at Thiruvananthapuram Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan.
