BIRMINGHAM July 15: National Council of Kerala Hindu Heritage UK conducted their second National Kalamela on the 6 th of July 2019 in Balaji Temple, Brimingham in the UK.
The registrations started at around 8:00 am and participants from the length and breadth of England came to try their luck in the prestigious competitions. The program was officially inaugurated by Shri.
Rajamanikcam IAS, former Thrissur District Collector, Kerala. To keep with the aim of the organisation, all competitions were keeping up with Hindu culture and tradition.
Participants competed in Classical dance Devotional Music, Thiruvathira, Painting, Story writing, Elocution, Short Film, Skits , Poetry & Bhajan competitions in sub junior, junior and senior categories.
The Quiz based on Mahabharata & Ramayana was the highlight of the mela and was captivating for the audience. The competitions started from 10 am and lasted till 8 pm without any breaks in between.
Meghana Manu won the Kalathilakom title and Krish Santhosh Nair won the Kalaprathiba award.
Shri Rajamanickam IAS was the chief guest for the Kalamela. He spoke to the audience about the importance of keeping our culture and traditions intact and how we need to set examples for future generations.
He put light on how Kalamelas like this pave the way for a better community by bringing people and young generation closer. He encouraged parents to guide the children by leading by example.
Mr Gokul Varma representing Freedom Financial Services was all praise for the work undertaken by National Hindu Council over the years. He highlighted the coordinated efforts taken by the council for repatriation of deceased on death and the out of the way help provided by the council in counselling the family members.
While addressing the topic Freedom made a commitment to assist in whatever small way going forward in the council efforts . The speech was full of praise for our young performers and committee members and an army of volunteers who made such an event a super success.
While wishing the council all the success in years to follow and establish a strong foundation for our Hindu heritage in UK Freedom group look forward to even deeper and meaningful engagement in the years to come.
The Kalamela was a huge success with active participation from members and their families of various Hindu Samajams in the UK.
Mr. Suresh Sankarankutty explained the necessity of educating Sanathana Dharmma to the entire Hindu Society living in UK and detailed what we need to contribute to the society rather than what we expect from the society us of our imagination.
He had also explained the future programmes of National Council .
The next event of National Council will be “ Amavasi Pithru Tharppanam” on 31 st July 2019 at Nottingham.
