MAUK’s drama troupe Drishyakala invites artistes and technicians to be part of their next drama “Theyyam”

LONDON Jan 5: ‘Drishyakala’, Malayalee Association of UK (MAUK)’s drama troupe, initiated in 1989, is planning its 21st production titled ‘Theyyam’, an enthralling drama production, based on the myths and legends of the tribal art form of northern Kerala.

“Theyyam” will depict the origins of the art form Theyyam folklore Muchilot Bhagavathi and Maruthiyodan Kurickal, two classic tales of oppression and revenge.

“Theyyam” will be staged across the UK during November and December 2023. Coinciding with the drama, MAUK hope’s to bring two traditional Theyyam performers from Kerala to tour the UK., to educate the diaspora and local communities about this elaborate ritual art form.

Drishyakala is at present inviting male and female artistes and technicians to be part of “Theyyam”.
