India reinstates e-visa option for British nationals: Website is ready to taken applications from UK (Details)

LONDON Dec 5: India government has reinstated eVisas for entry to the country after halting them last year and demanding all applications for UK nationals be made in person. The website is now ready to taken applications from UK nationals.

Vikram K Doraiswami, India’s high commissioner to UK, said: “We are rolling out e-visas once again and this service will be made available to you forthwith. That should enable friends from the UK far more easily to India. So welcome back, e-visas are up ahead and all of our other services including visa at your doorstep remain available to you. We look forward to a good winer season in which everyone gets to celebrate their festivals in India which is the land of festivals.”

On the Indian visa website, it said eVisas had been restored and now covered all 164 eligible countries. It said all valid eVisas could now be used for entry into the country.

The UK was one of several countries not put back on to the eVisa list in 2021 when the application entry process was reinstated after the Covid pandemic.

In a video shared on Twitter, Indian High Commissioner Vikram K. Doraiswami said: “We are rolling out eVisas once again and this service will be available to you forthwith. We are looking forward to a good winter season.”
