THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: N K Premachandran MP has said that the Lok Sabha’s permission for tabling the private bill on Sabarimala women’s entry, is the initial victory for those fighting to protect tradition in Sabarimala.
The bill is for maintaining the status quo that existed before September 1.
“The permission for the bill has given an opportunity to resume discussions on the issue. In the initial phase itself we could bring Sabarimala issue to the notice of the Central government.
Most of the times, private bills have become laws. The transgender private bill introduced by the then minister Arun Jaitley had become law,” he said.
Meanwhile, the BJP spokespersons have asked ‘what is the hurry in introducing the bill’ and hence, what obligation does the BJP have towards the community of believers?” he quipped.
