Collector gives nod to Thrissur Pooram fireworks

THRISSUR: Thrissur district Collector has finally given permission to burst fire crackers during the Pooram festival in Thrissur.
Earlier, the collector had denied permission for the crackers to be burst when Thiruvambady Bhagavathy reached Naykkanal pandal. This is the customary fireworks that announces that Bhagavathy has arrived for the Pooram.
The instruction was that special permission would be needed for the fireworks.
The collector had denied permission though the organisers explained that the fire crackers were low-decibel ones usually used in party conferences. Later the permission was granted after examining the crackers.
Meanwhile, following six persons getting injured in sample fireworks, the revenue officials have given notice to Paramekkavu Devaswom office-bearers.
They reached their home and handed over the notice on Wednesday. The fire cracker used at Paramekkavu will be examined again.
